Training Squads
Friday evening is our 'Club Night'. When a member first joins the club they will start in an appropriate squad, depending on age and ability, and will be allocated to one of the following times:
Squad 1: 5.00 - 6.00 pm
Squad 2: 6.00 - 7.00 pm
Squad 3: 7.00 - 8:00 pm
SQUAD 1
This is our 'starter' squad for younger members (aged 7+), or those who have recently moved on from a 'Learn to Swim' scheme, and is designed to develop technique, educate on the rules of swimming, and to prepare swimmers to be 'race ready' should they wish to compete.
SQUAD 3
This is our senior and competitive squad. The majority of swimmers in Squad 3 will be those who have chosen swimming as their main competitive sport, and will be regularly attending local, district and national meets. This squad also includes senior recreational swimmers, keen to maintain their fitness through swimming.
SQUAD 2
Our intermediate squad includes those swimmers who have progressed through the fundamentals of Squad 1, where all aspects of the four swimming strokes are in place. Some swimmers will have started to compete, although there is no obligation for them to do so.
ADDITIONAL TRAINING
Subject to space being available in a session, further training can be offered when coaches feel that the swimmer has shown the desire to take on extra pool time. Morning training is generally for swimmers in secondary education, or competitive swimmers in the latter stages of primary. We also have various afternoon and evening sessions throughout the week and again, coaches will decide which sessions are offered.
Sessions in addition to club night are:
Monday: 7:00 - 8:00 am
Tuesday: 6:15 - 8:00 am & 3:50 - 4:50 pm
Wednesday: 6:15 - 8:15 pm
Thursday: 7:30 - 8:30 pm
Friday: 7:00 - 8:00 am
Sunday: additional sessions at the Aquatics Centre, Aberdeen Sports Village
