Loutraki Swim Camp 2019

Twenty-one swimmers and four coaching staff travelled to Loutraki, Greece in October for a week long training camp. This was Ythan ASC's first ever trip abroad, and was hailed as a resounding success leaving the swimmers desperate to know where we were planning to go for our next trip!

Having organised the trip through Sports Abroad, who were amazing throughout the whole process, the team travelled from Edinburgh to Athens, then an hour-long owards journey to the Loutraki Sport Camp. The camp is fully enclosed, catering for sports teams from around the world, with activities such as basketball, tennis, football and volleyball all on campus. The 8-lane, 50-metre pool was a 5 minute transfer away, and it really was a top-class facility.

Our week was a mix of training sessions, team building, fun activities, plus a lot of free time where the swimmers tried their hand at all the other sports available. Our rest day in the middle of the week included a trip to Heraion Lake, a little north of Loutraki, where the team enjoyed an afternoon of watersports and delicious food, in beautiful surroundings.

We were incredibly lucky with the weather for the entire week, with even the locals commenting on how warm it was for the time of year - mid to high 20's every day. The trip gave us our first taste of warm weather training, and we loved it! Now, where to next......
